How to Track Traffic from Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot increasingly answers questions your customers used to search for. Here is how to see the visitors it sends you.

How Microsoft Copilot visits show up

When a user clicks a link in a Microsoft Copilot answer, the visit usually arrives with a referrer from copilot.microsoft.com, bing.com. Visits from apps or with privacy settings can lose the referrer and look like direct traffic in classic analytics, which is why Microsoft Copilot traffic is often underreported.

Make sure Microsoft Copilot can read your site

Microsoft uses these user agents: Bingbot. If your robots.txt blocks them, Microsoft Copilot cannot read or cite your pages. Use our free AI crawler checker to verify in seconds.

What makes Microsoft Copilot recommend a page

• Bing visibility: Copilot relies on the Bing index, so submit your sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools and use IndexNow.
• Fast indexing: IndexNow notifies Bing of new pages within minutes.
• Concise, well-structured answers with headings and lists.

FAQ

Does Microsoft Copilot send referral traffic?

Yes. Microsoft Copilot links to sources in many answers, and those clicks reach your site as referral visits, most often from copilot.microsoft.com.

Can I see Microsoft Copilot traffic in Google Analytics?

Partly: visits that keep their referrer appear as referrals, but visits without one are counted as direct. A dedicated AI traffic tracker classifies them more completely.

How do I get indexed by Copilot faster?

Make sure Bingbot can crawl your site, submit your sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools, and ping new URLs via IndexNow.
